Travel For Teens offers domestic and international trips of a lifetime for teens between the ages of 13-18. We have several types of trips that we offer both in the U.S. and internationally, including Cultural Exploration, Community Service, Language Programs, and Specialty Trips.
TFT is the ONLY teen travel program that bridges the gap between classroom learning and touristic teen tours, offering the best features of each. Travel For Teens is differentiated from other teen travel by some key hallmarks. We offer two-week trips that serve as a terrific travel abroad experience on their own or which can be combined for a longer, more varied travel experience that uniquely fits the budget and wishes of each traveler.
Our trips feature choices in activities. Students do not want to be herded along, forced to follow rigid schedules. Travel for Teens teaches campers to set their own priorities, so that within a flexible itinerary they have the opportunity to decide for themselves what aspects their destinations they would like to emphasize most. Teens who travel with us come back more enriched because their own unique interests have been served, and return equipped to go forth on their own as more responsible, eager, and aware wanderers of the globe.
Our staff is second to none. All of our counselors undergo extensive interviewing, training, and continual evaluation. We hire very few new staff members each year, as our retention rate is quite high, and our staff does not lead a trip without prior experience as a TFT counselor. Our students are fully supervised throughout their travels, except in situations when counselors have deemed it abundantly safe to explore limited areas in small groups.
We strive to emphasize authentic cultural immersion on all of our trips. This means that we actively seek out experiences and activities that broaden our horizons and stretch our boundaries. We mostly stay in smaller, authentic hotels (not bland chain hotels) close to the center of the action, and we search for the best local spots to eat in each of our destinations. This helps a student learn the most important lesson toward becoming a competent traveler and world citizen – everything does not have to be just like home in order to be OK. We know that most of our travelers will embark on independent journeys of their own once they leave high school. We want them to be competent and prepared.
